Rachel J. Walmsley, age 36 of Batesville, died Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Margaret Mary Health. Born June 19, 1981, she is the daughter of Susan (Nee: Voegele) Burkhart and Dan Little. She married Nathaniel Walmsley in 2001.
Rachel was a waitress at Lil’ Charlie’s Restaurant and a favorite with the regulars. With a passion for dancing, she learned to belly dance and was a fan of the Grateful Dead’s music. Rachel was also an avid reader of fiction, knitted and loved watching movies with her children.
She is survived by her husband Nathaniel; daughters Tess and Leigh; sons Wilson and Samson, all at home; mother and stepfather Susan and Mike Burkhart of Batesville; father and stepmother Dan and Christine Little of Batesville; sisters Hunter Little of St. Peter’s, Indiana, Gretchen Little and Kate Burkhart, both of Batesville and brothers Shane Padilla of Batesville, Troy Padilla of Indianapolis, Drew Padilla of Honolulu, Hawaii, Eddie Fabrick of Chicago, Illinois and Garrett Burkhart of Batesville.
Visitation is Saturday, August 5th, from 9 – 11:30 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at Noon at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School.
