BATESVILLE – The annual Rural Alliance for the Arts meeting was held this week at the Batesville Public Library and several people were recognized for their contributions to the organization and community.
The President’s award was given to Jen Saner and Rachel Berkemeier. Saner, a graphics designer, creates promotional posters for the organization. Berkemeier is the grant writer responsible for applying for existing and new funding.
Retired Batesville Intermediate School art teacher Rebecca Davies was recognized with the arts-in-education award for her work creating school and public morals. The organization also awarded the volunteer of the year award to Pam Cope for community theater productions work.
The RAA recognized the Joan and John Hillenbrand Vision for Innovation Fund for the years of service to the organization.
Group members also discussed upcoming events including the John Michael Montgomery concert at the Ball Plex on September 13. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at WRBI, Kroger, Batesville Chamber of Commerce and online.
RAA members added there will be a fall community theater in early November along with the art auction, a comedian performance and IU Singing Hoosier’s events scheduled for early 2015.
