Located on the second floor of the Purdue Student Center at 520 Indiana Avenue, the library will serve as the central hub for book pickups, course reserves, research assistance and online material requests. The space has been in limited use since the fall semester and is part of Purdue’s expanding footprint in downtown Indianapolis.
The change ends the long-standing practice that allowed Purdue students to automatically borrow materials from the IU Indianapolis University Library using their Crimson Card. Beginning in January, borrowing will be handled through Purdue’s own library system, aligning Indianapolis students with Purdue’s broader campus resources.
Purdue students will still be able to use study spaces and reserve rooms at the IU Indianapolis University Library, but direct borrowing will require a visitor’s card. Students can also request books and other materials through interlibrary loan for pickup at the Student Center Library.
The new library provides access to Purdue’s statewide collections, digital databases and subject-specific research support, with librarians available both in person and online. University officials say the move reflects Purdue’s continued investment in Indianapolis and its goal of offering students a more unified academic experience.
