Plea Agreement Reached in Simon Case

A plea agreement was reached yesterday in regards to a Tuesday news story involving a former South Decatur High School educator. Paige M. Simon of Osgood pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of official misconduct and a misdemeanor count of battery. A third charge of stalking was dismissed as part of the plea agreement inside the Decatur County Circuit Court. Altogether, Simon was sentenced to a year-and-a-half in jail but 529 total days of jail time were suspended. The defendant was also granted four accrued days and four good time credit days for each count and no jail time will be served according to court documents. Simon has been placed on probation and has a no-contact order with regards to the juvenile victim in the case.
