Phillip Edward Wheat, age 61 of North Vernon tragically lost his life in a house fire last week. Phillip was born on May 21, 1963 the son of the late John and Janet (Trowbridge) Wheat in Louisville, Kentucky.
Phillip grew up along with his brother and sister and was graduate of Clover Hill High School in Richmond, Virginia. He entered the workforce, he spent several years working for Lowes. He retired earlier this year from Toyota where he had been for the last 15 years working in quality control.
He was proud to keep his home in North Vernon in immaculate condition, from the front door to the fire pit, his attention to detail was evident. He truly loved the outdoors in every aspect, whether hunting or fishing he was in his element. Numerous trophy mounts are displayed in his home. His competitive side led him to the game of golf and he was also gifted at throwing horse shoes.
Phillip will be dearly missed by his son Phillip Forest Wheat of North Vernon, mother Janet Wheat of Scottsburg, and nephews Scot and Jonathon McCrory of Scottsburg. He was preceded in death by his father John, brothers Roger and Scott, and sister Vicki.
