Peggy Blank Salatin, 83, of Batesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 8, 2024 after a long battle with pain and illness.
Peggy was born on March 21, 1941 in Batesville to Urb and Verda Blank. She attended St. Louis School and Oldenburg Immaculate Conception Academy and lived most of her life in Batesville.
Peggy married Robert (Bob) in 1960 and during their 64 years of marriage they had three children: Randy, Rob, and Richie.
Peggy was a school teacher at St. Anthony’s in Morris and then later taught at St. Louis School. She proudly attained her teaching degree while being an active mom and working full-time. She was a long-time member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Batesville Fire Auxiliary, the VFW, and life-long member of St. Louis Church.
She loved the sunshine, the water and the beach with some of her favorite places being Ponce Inlet and Cape Coral, FL. She loved her family dearly and created many memories with her kids and grandkids at Lake Santee, the Batesville Memorial Pool and on a variety of beaches in Florida. At home, you would often find her with family and friends gathered around her kitchen bar never wanting the party to end.
Peggy will be missed by her husband: Bob, her children: Randy (Ann), Rob, and Richie (Kristi); her 11 grandchildren; and her 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Connie (Jim) Meyer and brother, Tom (Pat) Blank along with a number of treasured nieces, nephews and many dear friends – both near and far.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Urb and Verda Blank, and her twin brothers, Louis and Edward.
A special thank you to all the St. Andrews Nursing Home Staff for their wonderful care of her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis Church on Saturday, November 23rd at 10:00 am with burial immediately following in St. Louis Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall where the family will visit with guests.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made either to the St. Louis School Library Fund, as Peg was the librarian for the school as well as an avid reader; or to the Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Fund. For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
