Patty S. Rullman, 84, of Aurora, IN, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024. She was born November 27, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, daughter of the late Everett Hileman and Edith (Kauffman) Hileman. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1958, Iowa Wesleyan in 1962, and earned her master’s degree at Northwestern University. During this time, she met the love of her life, Roger L. Rullman, and they married on July 23rd, 1966. They were married for 54 wonderful years.
Patty worked as a School Teacher for South Dearborn Community School Corporation, retiring after over 25 years of service. She also spent many years as an usher at the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Cincinnati. Patty was passionate about music and theater, spending many hours playing her baby grand piano and seeing shows with her friends and family. She loved her family, the Cincinnati Bengals, rooting for Iowa and Northwestern in football and basketball, and especially, her great-grandson, Finn.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the LWML, Pi Beta Phi sorority, Tri Kappa, St John Lutheran Church Altar Guild, Dearborn County Retired Teacher Association, the Hillforest Historical Society Board, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Patty is survived by her daughters, Angela (Matt) Burkhardt of Aurora, IN, Stephanie (Tim) Rice of Aurora, IN; grandchildren, Nicholas (Nina) Burkhardt, Rachel Burkhardt; great grandson Finn; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Edith Hileman; loving husband, Roger L. Rullman; brothers, Mike Hileman, Dr. Bill Hileman.
Friends will be received Friday, February 9, 2024, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church. Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 am with Pastor Hesse officiating.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, IN.
Contributions may be made to the St John Lutheran School, St John Lutheran Church, the Hillforest Historical Society, family in Iowa may give to North Hill Cemetery in Wayland, Iowa.
