Pat Rolfes of Guilford, 87

Patricia Rolfes of Guilford, IN passed away Tuesday morning, April 30, 2024 at the age of 87. Pat loved making music. She found joy in singing around her family at home and in the All Saints Choir at St. John’s Campus. She also had the most beautiful whistle that she put to songs and hymns that her children never got bored of hearing. Pat loved watching birds so much that she kept a bird book by the back window so she could easily identify them. Her favorite was the hummingbirds that came to visit every spring and summer. A talented seamstress, Pat enjoyed making matching dresses for her girls, curtains for the house, and stuffed bears and couch potato cushions for the grandchildren. She was also great in the kitchen and loved to bake. Pat made delicious french toast and was most famous for her chocolate chip cookies.

Pat met her soon to be husband, John, during moonlight bowling at Harrison Bowl, conveniently set up by her sister and brother-in-law Barb & Hank Schmeltzer. The matchmaking was successful and Pat & John were married 11 months later. 53 years of marriage, three children and five grandchildren later, the family fondly remembers trips to the Smoky Mountains and their last trip as a family to Indiana Dunes.

Pat will be deeply missed by her children Annie (Chris) Brown, Julie (James) Dawson, and John (Sheila) Rolfes; grandchildren Sarah & Matthew Rolfes, Angela, Amanda & Abby Brown; and sister Barb Schmeltzer. Pat is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents Lawrence & Marie Hasken Beiting; brother-in-law Hank Schmeltzer; and nephew Jeff Schmeltzer.
