Over 140 lbs of drugs collected at two area events

Batesville, IN — On Wednesday night the Margaret Mary Health (MMH) Drug Take-Back event netted 52.6 pounds of unused or expired medications in the community. Tuesday night, organizers collected 91.8 pounds in Brookville in 3 hours. According to Meg Applegate with MMH, those drugs are now out of homes so they are not a temptation to others or so they don’t fall into the wrong hands.

“This was a great way to kick off the celebration of National Recovery Month,” stated Franklin County Sheriff Deputy Jason Lovins.  “We would like to thank our community partners who helped with this take back, but most of all, we would like to thank our citizens who made this such a huge success,” continued Deputy Lovins, also a member of the Stayin’ Alive LCC Executive Committee.
