(Osgood, IN) – The Osgood Volunteer Fire Department has achieved a Public Protection Classification (PPC) of Class 4/4Y, effective May 1.
This is a major improvement from the department’s previous Class 6/6X rating, and is expected to help local pocketbooks.
The Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates a community’s fire protection services and assigns a PPC score on a scale of 1 to 10.
Class 1 represents the best possible fire protection, while Class 10 indicates that minimum criteria haven’t been met.
A better ISO rating means enhanced safety and can lead to lower insurance premiums for residents and businesses.
Here’s how this achievement affects Osgood:
- Enhanced Safety: The improved PPC rating reflects stronger fire protection and a reduction in fire risks.
- Lower Insurance Premiums: Many insurance companies use this rating to calculate premiums, potentially saving you money.
- Community Commitment: This achievement highlights the town’s dedication to improving fire safety, emergency preparedness, and infrastructure.
“A huge thank-you to our hardworking firefighters, emergency personnel, and all who contributed to making this possible! Osgood is now safer and more resilient than ever,” the department wrote on a social media post.
