ORVC and EIAC junior high track championships

In the ORVC Junior High Track and Field Championships at Jac-Cen-Del, Switzerland County outscored second place Milan by 56-1/2 points for the boys title while Rising Sun was 13 points better than Switzerland County to win the girls crown.

1) Rising Sun 89, 2) Switzerland County 76,
3) Southwestern (Hanover) 60, 4) Milan 56,
5) South Ripley 41, 6) Shawe Memorial 36
and 7) Jac-Cen-Del 10.

Boys Team Rankings
1) Switzerland County 130.50, 2) Milan 74,
3) Rising Sun 54.25, 4) Jac-Cen-Del 48,
5) Southwestern (Hanover) 40 and 6) South Ripley 24.25.

Individual champions from Ripley County schools included Jac-Cen-Del’s Warren Boor along with Milan’s Emma Voss, Josh Pettit and Gabe Riehle who was a three-time winner.   Riehle also set two conference records with an 800 time of 2:17.80 and a 1600 time of 5:06.86.

East Central hosted the EIAC Middle School Track and Field Championships.  Batesville beat runner up East Central by 23 for the girls title while Greensburg edged Batesville by 2-1/2 points to capture the boys trophy.

5) Benjamin Rush 54, 6) Greensburg 49,

Boys Team Rankings

3) Benjamin Rush 88, 4) East Central 81.50,
5) Franklin County 75, 6) Greendale 68,
7) South Dearborn 49 and 8) Connersville 29.

Batesville individual championships included two by Ella King and one each from Paige Allgeier, Clark Cannon, Simon Berkemeier and Dylan Comer.

Bulldog relay victories were collected by the girls 400, 800 and 3200 teams along with the boys 400.  The girls 400 foursome of Nora Wiedeman, Addison Luers, Katherine Lipps and Mimi Smith had a record time of 53.84.

Title winners from East Central were their girls 1600 relay, Nick Hutchinson and Callie Bentley who was a three-time champ.  Bentley and Batesville’s Addison Luers both ran the 400 in a EIAC record time of 1:02.77. Bentley won in a photo finish.

Greensburg’s Jasmine Bailey and Xavier Cassis captured event titles as did their boys 3200 relay of Dante Hess, Xavier Cassis, Braylon Brancamp, Zack Blodgett who established a record of 9:32.01.

Franklin County’s Sol Simons and the Wildcat boys 1600 relay also were champions.

Edited reports from coaches…

Batesville’s Meghan Fledderman- It was a great season finisher for the Batesville Boy’s and Girl’s Track and Field teams last night at the EIAC Conference MS Meet. The ladies held on to win the Conference with a score of 144 –  23 points from the next closest team, East Central MS. The boys fought hard to narrow the gap but fell just short to Greensburg MS losing by 2.5 points with a total score of 96 points.

Special Notes:  The girl’s 400 M. Relay – Nora Weideman, Mimi Smith, Katie LIpps, and Addison Luers – broke the conference record with a time of 53.84 seconds. The previous record was set in 2018 by the former Batesville team of Pohlman, Nobbe, Davis, and Kuisel.  (All results can be found by clicking on the EIAC link above.)
