Oldenburg football has bright spots but falls at Union City

Oldenburg Academy played its first football game of the year against Union City.  Twisters coach Bryan Mitchell reported some turnovers and special teams plays put OA in a tough spot but, if those are eliminated, the Twisters did very well.  Union City won 41-8 on a game cut short early in the second half due to storms.

The only score for Oldenburg came from Caleb Lehman on an 80-yard pass connection to CJ Grote. In total, the Twisters put together 92 rushing yards and 90 passing yards in the first half.

“We had some great moments,” said Mitchell.  “We can be explosive when we execute our plays. We have six guys who started who weren’t starters last year or it was their first game ever. We will definitely learn from this experience and get better for next week.”
