Oldenburg Boys Soccer falls at Seymour

Oldenburg Boys Soccer played well defensively in a 2-0 loss at Seymour Saturday.  The Twisters had a chance to play on the Owls turf, soccer-only field.

“We couldn’t muster much on offense but our defense was outstanding,” said OA coach Kenny Getz.  “We played to a scoreless tie the first half.  About five minutes into the second half, we were called for a handball in the box. It was a tough call as our defender was trying to clear the ball. It deflected off of his arm as his arm was outside his body.  Just two minutes later the Owls had a corner kick that we couldn’t clear right away.  Somehow the Owls found a path through all of the legs for a goal. It was a great game to watch the Owls are fast and well coached.”

Varsity stat summary:

The Twisters had 1 shot, none on goal, 7 fouls, 4 handballs, 1 yellow card and Isaiah Waggoner had 1 save.

Seymour scored in period 2 at 34:31 on a PK. They scored again in period 2 at 32:36 off a corner and a second shot.

The Owls had 21 shots with 4 on goal, 2 offsides, 1 foul, 12 corners, 3 handballs and their keepers had 0 saves.

Seymour also won the JV match 1-0 which was one half of play.  The only goal was a converted penalty kick by the Owls.

“We see constant improvement,” said Getz.  “I just wish we had a couple of more boys so we could play a full game.”

The Twisters had 2 shots, none on goal, 1 foul and Jacob Cornelius had 6 saves.

Seymour scored in the only period played at 8:55 on a PK.
