Oldenburg Academy Boys Soccer team defeated a solid Milan squad on Saturday, October 12 to claim the sectional 44 title for the third straight year. The first half of the game was action packed with both teams contesting every ball. The Twisters Henry Wanstrath broke the stalemate midway through the half with a shot inside the box following a corner kick. OA carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Twisters’ Hayden Blair scored on a pass from Connor Holder to go up 2-0 with 34:11 to play. Shortly after, Will Jones found an open Connor Holder for a shot and goal in the 18. The game would remain 3-0 until 11:48 to go when Henry Wanstrath put a penalty kick in the goal. Connor Holder put the final score on the board with 6:06 to play to go up 5-0. The Twisters outshot the Indians 21 to 6.
Isaiah Waggoner and Ryan Hautman recorded a total of 3 saves to preserve the shutout.
OA will host Shaw Memorial at the Graveyard on Thursday, October 17 at 5:30 pm in the Regional Semis.
