NWS Confirms Tornado Near Napoleon

(Ripley County, IN) – The National Weather Service on Tuesday confirmed that a tornado touched down near Napoleon on Sunday night.

The agency’s report indicates the EF-0 twister caused tree and home damage from roughly two miles west-southwest of Napoleon to about one mile south of the town.

Maximum wind speeds were estimated around 80 mph.

“Based on radar, the tornado is estimated to have begun at 7:54 p.m. EDT to 7:56 p.m EDT,” NWS say.

No one was injured.

The weather service credits the Ripley County Emergency Management Agency with providing valuable information that aided in the damage survey.

We could see similar weather tonight, with another wave of severe storms expected to move through the area.

A Flood Watch also goes into effect at 8:00 tonight, and will last through Sunday morning.

And a Wind Advisory goes into effect at 10 this morning and will be in place through Midnight. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected.
