North Vernon man killed in Ripley County crash

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN — A motorcyclist from North Vernon was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 48 near State Road 129 in Ripley County Thursday morning.

Indiana State Police say shortly before 7 am, a black 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by 48-year-old Christopher Kincaid was eastbound on State Road 48 just east of State Road 129 when the cycle crossed the centerline and into the path of a westbound white 2014 Ford truck driven by 54-year-old Charles Eckstein of Sunman.

The two vehicles collided, and Kincaid was ejected from the motorcycle.

He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eckstein was not injured.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash although toxicology results are pending.

The investigation is ongoing.

Indiana State Police was assisted by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, the Milan Police Department, Ripley County EMS, the Delaware Fire Department, and the Ripley County Coroner’s Office.
