Sarah Swain had a busy day at the plate on Friday, smacking four hits in North Decatur varsity softball’s 20-5 victory over Morristown.
The Chargers got things going in in the first inning, scoring four runs on Swain’s grand slam.
North Decatur would follow that up with eight runs in the top of the sixth inning, ultimately leading to the 20-5 victory.
Swain earned the victory in the circle for the Chargers. The southpaw allowed nine hits and five runs over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
Rhylee Coppage took the loss for Morristown. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs on seven hits and striking out three.
North Decatur finished with 12 hits in the game. Swain, Ogden, Ally Whitaker, and Rohls all managed multiple hits for the Chargers. Swain led the team with four hits in five at-bats. North Decatur stole six bases during the game, as three players stole more than one. Kendall Hostkoette led the way with two.
Morristown tallied nine hits. Nevaeh Cox, Coppage, Alexia Rogers, and Brandi Enterkin each collected multiple hits for Morristown.
