Norman Eugene “Butch” Idlewine, 83, of Greensburg, formerly of Westport, passed away at 11:54 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at his residence. He was born on May 26, 1942, in Westport, Indiana, the son of Adam S. and Ellen Ruth (Belt) Idlewine. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1960. He retired in 2002 from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Westport Christian Church and the Good Sam RV Club. Butch enjoyed weaving baskets, stained glass and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He married Sheila Jae Wittmeier on November 21, 1963, in Westport, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2021. He is survived by his daughters, Lynette Jae Idlewine, Michelle Jean (Jeff) Adams and Kimberly Ann Owens (Wayne Geis) all of Greensburg; his sister, Elnora (Harvey) Sturdivant of Westport; his grandchildren, Haylee (Kellen) Thomas of Greensburg, Brayton (fiancée, Olivia Simpson) Owens of Westport, Kirsten Adams of Cincinnati, Ohio and Austin Adams of Greensburg and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sheila; his sister, Donna Marshall and his brothers, Gerald Edward Idlewine, James Joseph Idlewine, Adam S. Idlewine, Jr. and Francis D. Idlewine. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor George Willett and Pastor Scott Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
