Noah Allen Hughes, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 2:20 a.m., surrounded by family and loved ones, due to complications with leukemia. Born on October 23, 2000, Noah’s 24 years on this earth were marked by courage, resilience, and an unwavering ability to light up every room he entered.
From an early age, Noah was told there were things he couldn’t do—but he made a habit of proving his critics wrong, time and time again. He was a shining beacon of positivity, always ready with a kind word for those he loved. His strength, determination, and unshakeable spirit inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Noah had a deep passion for sports and a special love for his alma mater, North Decatur High School, where he excelled as a track athlete. He also spent many years as a dedicated Rebel Cheerleader with Gymnastics and More in Greensburg. His enthusiasm for athletics extended beyond high school, as he became a loyal supporter of the Indiana Hoosiers’ college volleyball team, attending every home game with his season tickets and cheering them on with pride.
Outside of athletics, Noah found joy in dancing and singing karaoke every weekend, spreading laughter and happiness wherever he went.
Noah will be profoundly missed by his loving parents, John and Lisa Hughes; his older sister Ashley and her husband, Michael Rodecker, along with their children, Ethan and Rachel; his older brother Jimmy and his wife, Ashley Govro, and their children, Mirielle, Freya, and Atlas; and his older sister Mary and her wife, Sam Hughes, with their children, Elise, Anni, and Nash.
He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and an abundance of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bessie Ploeger, and his Aunt Linda.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, Indiana, with rosary services beginning at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish – St. Maurice with Father Bill Ehalt officiating. Burial will take place at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery.
Noah’s light will forever guide those who loved him, and his memory will remain a source of inspiration. His indomitable spirit and compassionate heart will be cherished always. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Noah to Unified/Inclusion Sports at North Decatur High School to help buy new uniforms for their team.
