Batesville, IN — The City of Batesville will be raining in as the home of a world-renowned interactive art exhibit this summer thanks to work from the Batesville Area Arts Council. The Umbrella Project will be coming to downtown Batesville in June and will stay through October for all to see.

Batesville Area Arts Council has been going through all the behind the scenes work by getting permits, building a structure, securing permission from business owners to use a parking lot, working with different organizations to program the space. On Monday evening, they approached the Batesville City Council for a request for Belterra funds to help with the financial side of the project. They have also applied for several grants, as the organization has been hit hard with funding during the pandemic.

The project will provide a safe place to gather and the hopes to bring visitors from surrounding areas to help boost local businesses. The Council voted 5-0 in favor of funding $10,000 towards the project.
