Mrs. Wanda Lee (Sigmon) Scranton, age 78, of Fairview, Indiana, entered this life on December 6, 1944 in Milan, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Norman Francis and Pearl Leona (Cochran) Sigmon. She was raised on Red Hog Pike and was a 1963 graduate of Vevay High School. Wanda was united in marriage on June 29, 1963 to Donald Wayne Scranton at the Grants Creek Baptist Church. This happy union of over 59 years was blessed with five children, Lisa, Lora, Darian, Dwayne and Daniel. Wanda was employed as Postmaster for the United States Post Office in Patriot, Indiana, retiring in March 2022 after 22 years of service. She was a sub postal employee for the Bennington Post Office and Patriot Post Office. She was a former employee for the Plastic Molding Factory in East Enterprise, Indiana and for the Canning Factory in Rising Sun, Indiana. Wanda was a member of the Switzerland County Homemakers Club and enjoyed selling Stanley Home Products for several years. Wanda was a former member of the Grants Creek Baptist Church, Fairview United Methodist Church and Bennington United Methodist Church. Wanda was currently a member of the New Life Fellowship Church in Vevay, Indiana. Wanda loved her family deeply and loved animals especially kitty cats and dogs. Wanda loved listening to music, sewing, crocheting, flowers and going to yard sales. Wanda passed away at 12:15 a.m., Sunday, December 25, 2022, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Donald Wayne Scranton of Fairview, IN; her daughters, Lisa Kay Jedding and her husband, David of Aurora, IN and Lora Lee Shepherd and her husband, Doug of Madison, IN; her sons, Darian Anthony Scranton and his wife, Jill of Fairview, IN, Dwayne Edwin Scranton of near Pleasant, IN and Daniel Iric Scranton and his wife, Tonya of Patriot, IN; her grandchildren, Andrea, Aubrie, Kendall, Michelle, Tabetha, Joey, Logann, Lukas, Cole, Bella, Danielle, DJ, Charlotte and Rebecca; her great-grandchildren, Justice, Brantley, Bralen, Brogan, Bryce, Baylor, Kylie, Eli, Addie, Fielding and Stella; her special nephew, Harold Ray Scranton and his wife, Lisa of Fairview, IN; her sister-in-law, Connie Sigmon of East Enterprise, IN; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold Scranton and Louise Frazier of Fairview, IN and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Francis Sigmon; her mother, Pearl Leona (Cochran) Sigmon; her great-grandson, Briar Niko Scudder; her brother, Francis E. “Fritz” Sigmon; her sister, Christina Sigmon and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jerrie Ann Powers, Albert “Buster” Powers, Sr., Norma Jean Robinson, Robert Scranton, Grace Gentry and June Gentry.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2022, by Pastor Larry Spoores, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
