Mrs. Mary Lou (Tapp) Curlin, age 92, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 9, 1932 on Tapp’s Ridge in Vevay, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Leon and Sarah E. (Darbro) Tapp. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1950 graduate of the Vevay High School. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Wilbur Lee Curlin on January 24, 1953 in Vevay, Indiana. This happy union of over 40 years was blessed with two sons Greg and Douglas and a daughter Sue. Mary Lou was employed in 1953 as a secretary for Gretchen Cole & Cole Bakes Insurance in Vevay, Indiana, retiring after several years of service. She was also employed in the recorder’s office at the Switzerland County Courthouse for five years. She was a State FFA Honorary and volunteered for the Switzerland County 4-H. Mary Lou was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Mary Lou was the heart and soul of the family and was a wonderful homemaker, raising her children and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats. She enjoyed bird watching and listening to a variety of music, further enriching her life with the sounds she loved. Mary Lou passed away at 8:43 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Mary Lou will be missed by her sons, Greg Curlin and his wife, Becky of Vevay, IN and Douglas Curlin and his wife, Shirley of Vevay, IN; her daughter, Sue Curlin O’Banion of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Dobson and her husband, Rex, Jessica Perdue, Anthony “Tony” O’Banion, Jennifer Compan, Christopher Wheatley, Ethan Curlin, Levi Curlin, Charles Lorch and his wife, Kari, Gina Pfeifer and Sherri Kuhn; her several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Tapp, died June 4, 1963; her mother, Sarah E. (Darbro) Tapp, died February 24, 2005; her husband, Wilbur Lee Curlin, died August 15, 1993 and her daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Lorch, died November 27, 2015.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2024, by Pastor Pat Lanman, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
