Mrs. Lydia Jean (Baker) Scudder, age 70, of Florence, Indiana, entered this life on August 10, 1951 in Hayward, Wisconsin. She was raised in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and was the daughter of the late, William and Mary Jane (St. Germaine) Baker. On December 4, 1976, she was united in marriage to Maurice Mitchell Scudder in Madison, Indiana. Lydia was employed for the Madison State Hospital in Madison, Indiana for two years. She was later employed as a school bus driver for the Switzerland County School Corporation for several years. Lydia loved her grandchildren and enjoyed riding motorcycles, four-wheeling, camping, traveling, as well as, cooking and baking. She was also an avid Tony Stewart NASCAR fan. Lydia passed away at 12:55 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Maurice Mitchell Scudder of Florence, IN; her children, Mike Stewart and his fiancée, Sara Bauer of Kendallville, IN, Shannon Oliver and her husband, Tim of Madison, IN, Maurice “Rufus” Scudder, Jr. of Florence, IN, Michelle Kernan of Florence, IN and April Scudder and her companion, Stevie Quicksall of Florence, IN; her grandchildren, Tanner, Tyler, Olivia and Trevor Stewart, Autumn Dye, Michelle Goins, Trinity Hicks, Kameryn Stewart-Turner, Collin, Kylie and Kayla Scudder, Troy and Haven Kernan, Rylie Scudder, Aireal White, Patience Young, Kassidy Scudder and McKenna Herrnon; her great-grandchildren, Dason, Raylynn, Serenity, Landen, Jordan, Harley, Elijah, Addilynn, Jaxson, Delilah, Rayna and Zilah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Jane (St. Germaine) Baker; her sisters, Rose and Martina and her brother.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
