Mrs. Lavern (Peelman) Wagner, age 86, of Vevay, Indiana, peacefully passed away at 4:20 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana. Lavern was born on February 6, 1937 in Aurora, Indiana to the parents of, Herbert Lee “Herb” and Blanch E. (Romans) Peelman. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she attended Vevay High School. On May 22, 1954, Lavern was united in marriage to Robert R. “Sonny” Wagner in Patriot, Indiana. This happy union shared over 66 years of marriage together until Sonny passed away on October 28, 2020. She was a former employee for Plastic Molding Factory in East Enterprise, Indiana, for four years. Lavern was a former cook for the Switzerland County School Corporation for several years, retiring in 2013. She was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Lavern enjoyed camping, riding the golf-cart around town and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved canning and raising a garden, as well as, cooking and baking.
Lavern is survived by her daughter, Kathy Covington of Vevay, IN; her sons, Danny Wagner and his wife, Cindi of Vevay, IN and David Wagner and his wife, Christina of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Jeremey Jackson and his wife, Shannon, Kacey Sexton and her husband, Tim, Cody Covington and his wife, Jennifer, Justin Wagner and his wife, Abby, Dalton Wagner and his companion, Destiny Brown and Owen Wagner; her great-grandchildren, Nathan Jackson, Lauren Jackson, Payton Covington, Aiden Covington, Jacob Covington, Kennedy Sexton, Adalynn Sexton, Gavin Wagner, Madelyn Wagner, Mason Wagner, Leah Wagner and Brooks Wagner; her sister, Mary Lou Shaw of East Enterprise, IN and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Lee “Herb” Peelman, died August 11, 1997; her mother, Blanche E. (Romans) Peelman Martin, died April 9, 1992; her husband, Robert R. “Sonny” Wagner, died October 28, 2020; her son-in-law, Dale Robert Covington, died September 22, 2020; her infant-brother, Kenneth Peelman, died January 2, 1939; her brothers, Robert L. “Bob” Peelman, died October 29, 2000, Richard Charles “Rick” Peelman, died March 3, 2016, Leslie “Johnny” Peelman, died April 28, 2012, Harold Peelman, died December 2, 2019 and Herbert Leon Peelman, died April 15, 2023; her step-father, Oscar Roger Martin, died November 30, 1994, her step-mother, Mary T. (Swango) Peelman, died April 24, 2012; her nieces, Karen Laverne (Peelman) Harsin, died August 30, 1990 and Brenda Patton and her nephew, William Dewayne “Bill” Peelman, died June 18, 2003.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, by Rev. Mike Jones and Bro. Shawn McMullen, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
