Mrs. Katherine (Riley) Scott

Mrs. Katherine (Riley) Scott, age 90, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021. Katherine was born December 4, 1930 in Switzerland County, Indiana to James and Sally (Cook) Riley. She was raised in Switzerland County near the banks of the Ohio River next to a creek in a small home. She met her school sweetheart William E. “Bill” Scott at a young age down the road close to where she grew up. Katherine and William were united in marriage on July 26, 1947 after he was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Katherine and William moved to Lexington, Kentucky in the 50’s then later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the early 60’s. In 1974, they moved to Roswell, Georgia before settling in Marietta, Georgia since 1983. Katherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and a nursing assistant. She loved raising her family and even helped raise the neighborhood kids growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Katherine always had her yard or home full of children playing. She enjoyed laughing with her family. Katherine and William shared 73 years of marriage together until he passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020.

Katherine will be missed by her children, Sherry Kay (Scott) French, Stephen Scott and Jeff Scott and his wife, Lailani; her grandchildren, Nichole Scott, Erika Scott, Jessica French, Jediah French and his wife, Jody, Abigail Peelman, Kelly Scott, Gina Blair, Barbra Shultz Adams and Margie Oglesby; her great-grandchildren, Jude French, Jace French, Justin French, Ashtyn Peelman, Noah Scott, Aiden Hellenbrand, Blaine Fernandez, Desiree Shultz and Dylan Schultz.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, William E. “Bill” Scott; her parents, James and Sally (Cook) Riley; her son, Michael Scott; her grandchildren, Romero Fernandez, twins. Alivia Fay and Ava Kay Peelman; her siblings, Jesse Riley, Raymond Riley, Eddie Riley, Harold Riley, Margaret (Riley) Peters and Mamie (Riley) Harmon.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2021 in the Vevay Cemetery, 820 East Main Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
