Mrs. Jennie Dean Wentworth Brooks

Mrs. Jennie Dean Wentworth Brooks, age 90, of Bennington, Indiana near Allensville entered this life on February 19, 1930 on Vernon Ridge in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Lydia Ann Callis Wentworth. She was raised on Vernon Ridge and attended the Mt. Zion Church and Ebenezer United Methodist Church. On December 21, 1946, Jennie was united in marriage to Ralph E. Brooks in the Brooksburg parsonage. This happy union of 46 years was blessed with sons, Emerson and Roger and daughters, Rosalin and Wilma. She attended church with her husband at Home Church in Brooksburg. Jennie and Ralph settled on their farm in 1952 on Works Road in Ohio County. She enjoyed helping him with the farming, gardening, mowing the lawn, baking, sewing, embroidery work, reading, putting puzzles together, watching the hummingbirds and studying her Bible. Jennie was always the happiest when her family was with her and she loved hosting the annual 4th of July parties. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the Olive Branch Baptist Church near Bear Branch. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, grandma, sister and friend. Jennie died on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at her home with her loving family at her side.

Jennie will be missed by her loving daughters, Rosalin “Rosy” Childress and her husband, Steve of Madison, Indiana, Wilma Tschaenn and her husband, Rick of Osgood, Indiana; her loving sons, Emerson Brooks and his wife, Sheila of North Vernon, Indiana, Roger Brooks and his wife, Becky of Bennington, Indiana; her loving grandchildren, Anthony Bailey (Amy), Travis Tschaenn (Krista), David Brooks, Stacy Brooks, Amber Brooks Redicker (Russell), Heather Childress Chism (Kirk), Brook Childress Bailey (Darin), Jared Childress (Nicole), Amanda Hobson (T.J.), Ashley Barnes (Ryan), and Jeremiah Smith (Haley); her great grandchildren, Kylee, Lauren, Brooklyn, Emma, Abby, Riley, Evan, Karsyn, Jack, Torrance, Zuzu, Savanah, Blake, Shay, Paige, Tori, Parker, Jack, Charlotte, Chelsea, Calvin (Chasity), Coleton, Clay, Rebekah (Stephen), Lily, Eva, Noah, Luke, RaeLynn, CharLee and Gracie is expected to arrive soon; her great-great-grandchildren, Seth Michael and Casen expected to arrive soon; her brother, Clarence Wentworth of New Albany, Indiana; her brother-in-law, Bob Griswold and his wife, Betty of Bennington, Indiana; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Wentworth of Sellersburg, Indiana, Sue Wentworth of Kewanee, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Allen Wentworth, died September 17, 1986, her mother, Lydia Ann Callis Wentworth, died February 3, 1991, her beloved husband of 46 years, Ralph E. Brooks, died September 8, 1992, her brothers, Rev. Melvin Wentworth, died December 30, 1998, J. Eugene Wentworth, died May 9, 2019, Charles Wentworth, died July 10, 1928, her sisters, Helena “Babe” McKay, died May 5, 1986, Rosemary Griswold, died August 14, 1992, Nelgene Bolton, died October 23, 1995, and Hilda Meriweather, died September 16, 2013, her granddaughter, Stacy Brooks, died March 19, 1998; her great-grandson, John Asher Barnes, died November 19, 2018.

UPDATED FUNERAL CEREMONY INFORMATION

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Kerry Wentworth at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, 800 East Main Street in Vevay, Indiana.

Friends and family may visit on Saturday, May 30, 2020, from 12 Noon – 2:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
