Mrs. Florence Elizabeth (Littrell) Holdcroft, age 98, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on December 24, 1917, in Owen County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late, Nathan Littrell and Gracie (Mason) Littrell-O’Neal. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she was a 1936 graduate of Vevay High School where she was active in basketball. Florence was united in marriage on December 19, 1936, in Vevay, Indiana to the late, Arthur Russell Holdcroft and to this union arrived a son, James Russell and a daughter, Doris Ann to bless their home. Florence and Arthur shared nearly 78 years marriage together until Arthur passed away on October 30, 2014. Florence was a former employee for Osborn’s Clothing Store, Wilma Turners Clothing Store and Hand’s Clothing Store and for Farrar’s Grocery Store all of Vevay, Indiana. She was a member of the Spring Branch Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Florence was a wonderful homemaker and will be dearly missed by her loving family. Florence passed away at 11:47 am, Friday, October 14, 2016, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Florence will be dearly missed by her daughter: Doris Ann Hagan Jenkins of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren: Tamara Holdcroft, Ginger Peters, James Holdcroft, Todd Hagan and Susan (Hagan) Spain; her great-grandchildren: Chris Peters, Natalie Peters, Jace Leiland, Echo Nicole Hagan, T.J. Hagan, Amber Thompson, Lindsay Loftis, Grace Spain and Raymond Spain; her great-great-grandchildren: Camden Peters, Kaney Peters, Lucas Thompson, Raegan Thompson and Ethan Harbert; her sister: Naomi Johnson of Vevay, IN; her brother: Nathan Littrell of New Carlisle, OH and her several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Nathan Littrell, died August 19, 1925 and Gracie (Mason) Littrell-O’Neal, died November 4, 1988; her step-father: Jenkins O’Neal, died November 10, 1970; her husband: Arthur Russell Holdcroft, died October 30, 2014; her son: James Russell “Jimmy” Holdcroft, died November 1, 1991; her daughter-in-law: Anna Ruth (Otter) Holdcroft, died July 16, 2015; her sisters: Mary Francis Smith and Lucille Robinson and her brother: Marvin Littrell.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 10:00 am, by Rev. Ron Lee, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
