Mrs. Connie Sue (Lester) Emery, age 69, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on June 13, 1954 in Milan, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Albert “Red” and Nora E. (O’Connor) Lester. She was raised in Rising Sun, Indiana where she attended school. Connie was united in marriage to Ernest Omer Richards, Sr. on July 8, 1968 in Rising Sun, Indiana and to this union arrived three children. She was later united in marriage on September 12, 1988 to John William Emery in Patriot, Indiana. Connie and John shared nearly 13 years of marriage together until his passing on April 10, 2001. Connie was a former custodian for the Cincinnati Airport for one year. She was later employed on the assembly line for Campbell Hausfeld in Harrison, Ohio for three years. She was also employed for Sunray Eggs in Rising Sun, Indiana for several years. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She enjoyed going to the casino, crafts, playing bingo, quilting and sewing. Connie was baptized at the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana on February 11, 2024. Connie passed away with her loving family by her side at 10:44 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at her residence in Vevay, Indiana.
Connie will be missed by her daughter, Edith Schlensker and her husband, Steve of Vevay, IN; her sons, Ernie Richards, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Rising Sun, IN and Glenn Richards and his partner, Travis Shane of Osgood, IN; her grandchildren, Ernie Richards, III., Amanda Richards (Brandon Henderson), Whitney Black (Brenton), Ashley Arthur (Brad), Steven Richards and Amber Peters (Cody); her great-grandchildren, Landon Richards, Abby Henderson, Lincoln Peters, Kinsley Peters, Kaleigh Stewart, Peyton Richards, Trinidi Richards, Kole Barret, Ariana Richards and Jaelah Richards; her brothers, Robert Lester of Florence, IN, Wayne Lester of Florence, IN, Frank Lester of Sparta, KY and Dale Lester and his wife, Dorothy of Patriot, IN; her sisters, Bonnie Henderson of Lawrenceburg, IN and Lenora “Jenny” Walston and her husband, Alvin of Greenfield, OH and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Albert “Red” Lester, died September 14, 1992; her mother, Nora E. (O’Connor) Lester, died May 10, 1990; her 1st husband, Ernest Omer Richards, Sr., died December 16, 2006; her 2nd husband, John William Emery, died April 10, 2001; her granddaughter, Melissa Neve Johnson, died December 21, 1998; her grandson, Nicholas Todd Richards, died May 1, 1990; her brother, Norman Lester, died April 20, 2014; her sister-in-law, Delina Lester, died December 22, 2018 and her brother-in-law, Larry Henderson, died March 4, 1999.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2024, by Pastor Brian Shoemaker, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
