Mrs. Beverly (Alley) Hall Houze Parrott, age 86, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 14, 1930, in Evanston, Illinois, the loving daughter of the late, James R. Alley, Sr. and Eleanor (Allen) Alley. She was raised in Danville, Indiana where she was a 1948 graduate of the Danville High School. Beverly attended DePauw University in Green Castle, Indiana. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in education in 1971 from Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio and her Master’s Degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. On May 13, 1951, at the Danville United Methodist Church in Danville, Indiana, Beverly was united in marriage to H. William Hall and to this union arrived five children to bless their home. Beverly and William shared 28 years of marriage together until William passed away on May 28, 1979. She was later united in marriage on February 1, 1992 to Fred H. “Bud” Houze, Sr. who passed away on March 21, 1995. Beverly was united in marriage on August 9, 2003, in Vevay, Indiana, to Rev. Roger D. Parrott. Bev and Roger shared nearly 14 years of marriage together until her death. Beverly taught elementary school for 36 years in Indiana and in Ohio. She was employed for the Jeff-Craig Elementary School in Vevay, Indiana, where she taught for 28 years, retiring in 1997. Beverly was the Curriculum Director for the Switzerland County School Corporation, from 1997 to 2001. She earned the Switzerland County Teacher of the Year and was semi-finalist for Indiana Teacher of the Year in 1981. Beverly was President of Classroom Teachers’ Association for 10 years. Bev was a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association of Switzerland and Ohio Counties. She held membership in the Vevay Tri-Kappa where she was a past President of the Associate Members and Vevay-Switzerland Foundation from 2001 to 2002. She was a past President and associate member of the Eggleston Club. Beverly also held membership in the Vevay Kiwanis Club from 1997 to October 2016 and was a past President from 2001 to 2002. She was a past Secretary for the Switzerland County Community Foundation, from 2002 to 2003 and served on the Board of Directors. Bev helped establish the YMCA and served as a Board of Director in 2002. She was a former member of the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church in Vevay, Indiana where she was a lay leader from 1995 to 2002 and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a United Methodist Church Certified Lay Speaker. Bev was a member of the Aberdeen United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Bev was an associate member of the First Christian Church in Madison, Indiana. Beverly had such a profound effect on so many people and was able to touch hearts and inspire them to be the best they could be. She cared about making a positive impact in her community and was a role model to many. Beverly will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends and her community. Beverly passed away at 4:18 pm, Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, Indiana

William “Bill” Hall, II. and his fiancée: Sharon Alspaugh of New Castle, IN, Barbara Hayes and her husband: George of Seymour, IN, Nancy Hall and her partner: Becky Owens of Indianapolis, IN, Janet Springer and her companion: Graham Watland of Indianapolis, IN and David A. Hall and his wife: Fion of Taipei, Taiwan; her step-son: Roger Lewis Parrott and his wife: Rayna of Sunman, IN; her grandchildren: Ryan, Liz, Kristin, Jillian, Alicia, Sarah, Jerry, Chris, Nick and Caitlin; her great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Rae Ann, Drew, Ava, Brooklyn, Maverick, Blake and Abigail; her step-grandchildren: Brea and Nathan Parrott and her step-great-grandchildren: Ayden and Riley.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James R. Alley, Sr. and Eleanor (Allen) Alley; her 1st husband: H. William Hall, died May 28, 1979; her 2nd husband: Fred H. “Bud” Houze, Sr., died March 21, 1995; her daughter-in-law: Debra Hall, died in 1998 and her brother: James Alley, Jr., died in 1997.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Bill Johnson, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
