Mrs. Betty Jean (Scott) Chase

Mrs. Betty Jean (Scott) Chase, age 84, of Fairview, Indiana, entered this life on August 19, 1936 in Markland, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of, Herschel F. Scott and Clara (Chase) Scott White, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she attended Patriot High School. At the young age of 16, Betty was united in marriage to Darrel Edwin Chase and this happy union was blessed with two sons, Jerry who passed away on February 24, 1968 and Jack who passed away on July 11, 2016. Betty and Darrel shared nearly 67 years of marriage together until he passed away on January 7, 2020. Betty was employed for the Allensville School and Pleasant School where she was a cook and drove the food van. Betty was later employed as the cafeteria supervisor for the Switzerland County Elementary School in East Enterprise, Indiana. She was a member of the Brushy Fork Baptist Church near Pleasant, Indiana. Betty enjoyed cooking, crocheting, shopping, gossiping, mowing, ceramics and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing euchre, badminton and croquet. Betty passed away at 1:34 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter-in-law, Jill Chase of Fairview, IN; her granddaughters, Tina Girton and her husband, Jerry of Vevay, IN, Cassandra Rachelle Chase of Pleasant, IN, Crystal Richmer and her husband, Andy of Madison, IN and Cayla Rogers and her husband, Ben of Bennington, IN; her great-grandchildren, Christopher and Sam Girton, Carson and Caleb Byrd, Jack Richmer and Elsie and Ada Rogers; her great-great-grandchild, Elias Daniel Len Girton; her brother, Bill Scott of Rochester Hills, MI; her sister, Darlene White of Rising Sun, IN; her sister-in-law, Marietta Crandell of Moorefield, IN and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel F. Scott and Clara (Chase) Scott White; her husband, Darrel Edwin Chase; her sons, Jerry Dale Chase and Jack Lee Chase; her brothers, Earl Scott, Aaron Scott, Charles Edward Scott and Jess “Junie” White, Jr.
