Mrs. Bettie Josephine (Rook) Gullion, age 94, of Carrollton, Georgia, entered this life on April 20, 1923, in Vevay, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late, James Frederick and Bessie L. (Furnish) Rook. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana where she was a 1941 graduate of the Vevay High School. Bettie was united in marriage on August 20, 1945 at the Long Run Baptist Church in Moorefield, Indiana, to the late, Robert W. Gullion and to this union arrived two sons, Mark and John and two daughters, Emily and Linda to bless their home. Bettie and Robert shared nearly 33 years of marriage together until Robert passed away on January 27, 1978. Bettie was a former teller for American Fletcher National Bank in Indianapolis, Indiana, retiring in 1981, after 19 years of service. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority in Indianapolis, Indiana and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Speedway Post #500. She was of the Methodist faith and was a wonderful homemaker. Bettie resided in Switzerland County, Indianapolis, Indiana and for the past 22 years in Carrollton, Georgia. Bettie passed away at 7:38 a.m., Monday October 2, 2017, at the Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.
Bettie will be deeply missed by her sons, Mark Alan Gullion and his wife: Jeanne of Indianapolis, IN and John Robert Gullion of Indianapolis, IN; her daughters, Emily Jane Pedlow and her husband: Steven of Ellajay, GA and Linda Jo Bohannon and her husband: Rick of Carrollton, GA; her 9-grandchildren; her 16-great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandson; her sister, Helen Marie Lock Nelson and her husband: Darwin of Roswell, New Mexico and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Frederick Rook, died April 7, 1945 and Bessie L. (Furnish) Rook, died March 27, 1977; her husband, Robert W. Gullion, died January 27, 1978; her brothers, Billie, Harold and James Raymond “Jake” Rook.
Graveside Services will be conducted Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 2:00 pm, at the Vevay Cemetery, 800 East Main Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
