Mr. Roy Armond “Red” Keith

Mr. Roy Armond “Red” Keith, age 77, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 8, 1943 in Allensville, Indiana. He was the son of the late James Wilford and Avis O. (Chase) Keith. Red was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1961 graduate of Vevay High School. Roy was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana for a few years. Red was inducted into the United States Army on February 2, 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the Marksman (Rifle), National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Roy returned from overseas and was transferred to the United States Army Reserves on January 20, 1967 at Fort Hamilton, New York. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on February 1, 1971. Roy was united in marriage on August 26, 1978 in Vevay, Indiana to Barbara Jean Darbro. This happy union was blessed with a son Derrick. Red and Barbara shared nearly 42 years of marriage together until his death. He was employed in 1967 for Reliance Electric in Madison, Indiana, retiring in 2005 after 38 years of service. He was a former member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 and the Vevay American Legion Post #185. Red enjoyed listening to country music, being outdoors, fishing, playing solitaire and visiting with his family. Roy passed away at 9:06 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Roy will be missed by his loving wife, Barbara Jean (Darbro) Keith of Vevay, IN; his son, Derrick Keith of Vevay, IN; his sister, Sarah M. McCreary of Allensville, IN; his brother, Jonas Keith of Milan, IN; his sisters-in-law, Martha Keith of Center Square, IN and Ruth Ann Keith of Dillsboro, IN and his numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wilford and Avis O. (Chase) Keith; his brothers, Denver, Albert Wayne, Hubert Welsey, Kirby, Paul Dean, Clifford, Leon, Wilford “Junior” and Larry Keith, his sisters, Juanita Koons and Hazel Knaus and his infant brother and infant sister.

Due to COVID-19 and in keeping with the CDC guidelines, masks are required along with social distancing. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, Indiana.
