Mr. Richard Duane “Rick” McClellan

Mr. Richard Duane “Rick” McClellan, age 74, of Vevay, Indiana, was born on December 2, 1948 in Madison, Indiana to Edward and Wilma (James) McClellan. Rick grew up in Switzerland County and was a 1967 graduate of Vevay High School. Rick joined the Army on August 6, 1968 in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the Expert Rifle M-14 Badge, Marksman Rifle M60 Badge, National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He served in the Vietnam War and was transferred to the reserves on August 5, 1970 at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Rick was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on August 5, 1974. Rick was united in marriage on May 29, 1969 to Carolyn Sue Kelly at the Fredonia Baptist Church. This union of 54 years was blessed with a daughter Tina and a son Ed. Rick was employed for Randall’s Textron in Vevay, Indiana for 13 years. He was later employed for Rotary Lift in Madison, Indiana for over 17 years. Rick was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396. Rick was a lifelong member of Fredonia Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Rick enjoyed sports and was a fan of IU basketball, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Rick treasured his family and always looked forward to watching his grandsons play soccer and football. Rick loved his dogs, as well as, traveling. Rick passed away at 8:25 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023, at his home in Vevay, Indiana.

Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carolyn Sue (Kelly) McClellan of Vevay, IN; his daughter, Tina Fuller and her husband, Chris of Payson, AZ; his son, Ed McClellan and his wife, Amanda of Vevay, IN and his grandchildren, Ethan, Jack and Evan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward McClellan and his mother, Wilma (James) McClellan.

A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Full military rites will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the funeral home.

Inurnment rites will be conducted at a later date in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, Indiana.
