Mr. Kenneth Ray Watson, age 73, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 21, 1950 in Madison, Indiana. He was the son of the late Kenneth J. and Rheba M. (Owen) Watson. He graduated in 1968 from Madison Consolidated High School and attended vocational school for auto mechanics. Kenneth was employed for Hoffman Motors in Madison, Indiana until he enlisted into the United States Army July 23, 1970 in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupational Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Expert M16 Badge. Kenneth served during the Vietnam War for one year, five months and 10 days. He was transferred to the reserves on April 5, 1972 at Fort Dix, New Jersey and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on July 22, 1976. Kenneth was united in marriage to Connie S. Dowdy on August 5, 1972 at the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. After the army, he was employed as a mechanic for Hoffman Motors in Madison, Indiana. In August 1977, he was employed in maintenance for Dow Corning in Madison, Indiana, retiring in July 2006, after 29 years of service. Kenneth was also an Eagle Scout. Kenneth loved his truck and enjoyed fixing anything that was a challenge, yard work and spending time with his grandkids and all his family. Kenneth passed away at 8:40 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Connie S. (Dowdy) Watson of Vevay, IN; his daughter, Angela R. Callis and her husband, Damon of Vevay, IN; his son, Mark A. Griffin of Florence, KY; his grandchildren, Kennedy Gage Callis and his fiancée, Savannah Jones of Madison, IN and Avery E. Griffin of Union, KY; his sister, Sue Dopsovic of Wyomissing, PA; his nephews, Joseph Dopsovic and his fiancée, Amanda Polivitus of Philadelphia, PA and Josh Dopsovic and his wife, Cait of Exeter, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth J. and Rheba M. (Owen) Watson; and his brother-in-law, Tom Dopsovic.
Kenneth’s wishes were to be cremated with no services being held at this time.
