Mr. Jerry Rush Raisor, age 86, of Milan, Indiana, entered this life on August 25, 1937 in Rising Sun, Indiana. He was the son of Miles Herbert and Minnie Harriette (Duncan) Raisor, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Ohio County, Indiana where he attended Rising Sun High School. Jerry was united in marriage on August 24, 1957 to Donna Jean Driver in Rising Sun, Indiana. This happy union of over 66 years was blessed with four children, Melinda Sue, Michael Wayne, Michelle Marie and Melody Lynn. Jerry and Donna loved taking their children to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina every year. Jerry was employed as a semi driver for Good Speed in Aurora, Indiana, for seven years. He was later employed for Stedman’s Foundry in Aurora, Indiana, for three years. Jerry also mowed the Rising Sun Golf Course for four years. He was later employed as a fork lift operator in the shipping department for Schenley Distillery, retiring in 1988, after 30 years of service. Jerry was a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church in East Enterprise, Indiana. He farmed all of his life and enjoyed golfing and mowing grass. Jerry especially loved spending time with his family and coaching several softball leagues over the years. Jerry passed away at 12:10 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2024, at the St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Donna Jean (Driver) Raisor of Milan, IN; his daughters, Melinda “Sue” Carfield and her husband, John of Bennington, IN, Michelle Marie Manlief and her husband, Tony of Westport, IN and Melody Lynn Cutter of Dillsboro, IN; his son, Michael Wayne Raisor and his wife, Trish of Aurora, IN; his grandchildren, Gerri Jean Covington, Jon Erik Covington, Jesse Covington, Jimmy Carfield, Jesse Carfield, Jeremy Carfield, Christina Tiano, Melisa Raisor, Misty Weiss, Craig Ridener, Megan Manlief, Katlynn Cutter and Mason Cutter and his numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Miles Herbert Raisor, died July 16, 1973; his mother, Minnie Harriette (Duncan) Raisor, died July 3, 1973; his son-in-law, William Joe “Billy” Cutter, died July 13, 2023; his brothers, Miles D. Raisor, died March 26, 1985 and Phillip Lowell Raisor, died April 24, 1952 and his sisters, Corrilla Marie “Junie” Kelly, died June 29, 2022 and Martha Ann (Raisor) Knigga, died January 2, 2022.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024, by Pastor Jay Baker, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, Indiana.
