Mr. Glenn A. Richards

Mr. Glenn A. Richards, age 79, of Rising Sun, Indiana, was born on February 9, 1944 in Rising Sun, Indiana. He was the son of the late Harry L. and Edith Katherine (Matthews) Richards. He was raised in Rising Sun, Indiana and attended the Rising Sun High School. Glenn was raised in the Rising Sun Nazarene Church in Rising Sun, Indiana. Glenn attended Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington, for two years. Glenn was inducted into the United States Army on August 23, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana and served during the Vietnam War. He was transferred to the reserves and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on August 22, 1967. Glenn was a former meat cutter for Rising Sun Frozen Food Locker in 1950. He later worked for Washington State Local #81 as a meat cutter for 32 years, retiring in September 2000. Glenn also worked for Safeway Food Market in Seattle, Washington. Glenn resided in Seattle, Washington from 1962 – 2001 and later moved back to his hometown community in Rising Sun, Indiana. Glenn was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59. Glenn enjoyed fishing and gardening, as well as, tinkering on his ’65 Thunderbird. Glenn passed away at 7:10 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Boonespring Skilled Nursing Facility in Union, Kentucky.

Glenn is survived by his sons, Glenn Richards and his wife, Lena of Germany and Dale Richards and his wife, Cheryl of Las Vegas, NV; his daughter, Rebecca Richards and partner, Lalena Simmons of Auburn, WA; his grandson, Matthew Richards; his great-grandson, Jay Richards; his brother, Danny “Butch” Richards of Aurora, IN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry L. and Edith Katherine (Matthews) Richards; by his ex-wife, Sharon (Soper) Richards; his granddaughter, Elizabeth K. “Liz” Richards; his brothers, Harry Lester Richards, Dale E. Richards, John Richards, Ernest O. Richards, Sr., Robert Wayne “Bobby” Richards, Albert Richards and William “Bill” Richards and his sisters, Margaret Richards and Bessie Detmer.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment and full military rites will follow in the Cedar Hedge Cemetery, Rising Sun, Indiana, conducted by the Honor Guard of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59.
