Mr. Dale Romans, age 87, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on January 25, 1930, in Vevay, Indiana, the son of the late, Isaac and Daisy Marie (Ellis) Romans. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he attended school. Dale was inducted into the United States Army on September 27, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, serving during the Korean War, where he enjoyed every minute of serving in Korea. He earned the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and two Bronze Service Stars. Dale was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class on June 26, 1953 at Ft. Totten, New York. Dale was employed for Reliance Electric Company in Madison, Indiana, retiring in 1977, after 15 years of service. He was later employed for Stewarts Mechanical in Louisville, Kentucky, retiring in 1988, after 10 years of service. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185, Vevay VFW Post #5396, Switzerland Lodge No. 122 F&AM, Madison Moose Lodge No.765, National Rifle Association, the Indiana and National Sheriff Association’s and the Labor Union in Louisville, Kentucky. Dale was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Lamb, Indiana. Dale resided most of his life in the Switzerland County community, where he enjoyed riding motorcycles and dancing. Dale passed away at 3:05 pm, Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dale will be dearly missed by his sons: Billy Dale Romans and his wife: Nancy of Vevay, IN, Danny Ray Romans and his wife: Tammy of Mt. Sterling, KY and Tracy Lee Romans and his companion: Felicia of Madison, IN; his daughters: Debbie Sue Foster and her companion: Claude Henson of Vevay, IN and Lisa Jo Romans of FL; his grandchildren: Darren, Rhashell, Rebecca, Nathan, Hannah, Andrew, Scotty, Amy, Amber, Tracey Lynn, Destiny, Daphanie and Matt; his great-grandchildren: Sorren, Eli, Naomi, Christopher, Allison, Isabella and Olivia and his brothers: Isaac Romans, Jr. and his wife: Freda of Milton, KY and Norman Romans and his wife: Jean of Lamb, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Isaac Romans, died February 28, 1978 and Daisy Marie (Ellis) Romans, died March 23, 1993 and his sisters: Olive James and Mabel Ferguson.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 1:00 pm, by Rev. Mike Barnes, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
