ANDERSON, Ind. — A 17-year-old girl was fatally shot early Sunday morning inside a West 38th Street home near Raible Avenue, police said.
The victim, identified as Tianna Harris, was found with a gunshot wound by Anderson officers who responded around 5 a.m. She was rushed to a hospital but later died from her injuries.
Authorities arrested Harris’ mother at the scene. Police said other residents in the home were awakened by the gunfire but reported no prior disturbance or signs of trouble before the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the circumstances behind the incident.
Neighbors described the early morning shooting as a shocking tragedy in the usually quiet neighborhood near Interstate 69.
