More details released in weekend air crash

Hamburg, In. — A report from the Indiana State Police says a single engine Cessna (Tail # N761YZ) crashed near the 5000 block of Hamburg Road Saturday around 9 p.m. Three people and one dog have been confirmed killed, one dog survived.

Police and fire were notified after Cincinnati Air Control reported the aircraft disappeared from radar. Emergency workers found the wreckage on fire in a heavily wooded area behind a residence. Firefighters were able to access the scene and extinguish the flames.

The bodies of three people and one dog were found at the scene. The surviving dog was found at a nearby residence and taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.

The Franklin County Coroner’s office will release the names of victims after verification and notification of next-of-kin. The FAA, NTSB and Indiana State Police are conducting the investigation.
