Monday, November 8 Boys Junior High Hoops Recaps

The following are boys junior high basketball recaps from Monday, November 8.

The St. Louis 8th grade boys beat the St. Mary’s Knights of Greensburg 54-23.  Jaiden Kuria and Caleb Mohr had big scoring nights with 23 and 21 points respectively.

Jack Freeland and Ben Greiwe had four points each and Sam Richardson scored two.

Coach Erin Trenkamp said her Cardinals were able to trap and deny the pass to the post on defense which led to several fast breaks. They controlled tempo and made offensive plays and worked on different defensive plays.  All her players worked hard and earned the victory in return.

The St Louis 6th graders bested Mt. Carmel 16-9 to improve to 3-0.  Leading the Cardinals were Sam Dice with nine points and Andrew King with four points and five rebounds. Coach Dice also noted Ray Walke scored two points and Damien Brelage added one point while Caleb Harmeyer grabbed six rebounds and Owen Beckner pulled down four.

The St. Louis 5th grade boys fell to the Mt. Carmel Vikings 36-12.   Hunter Young led the Cardinals in scoring who made a few nice moves to make his jump shots.

Coach Young of the Cardinals said it was a tough game but was used as a learning experience. St. Louis improved each quarter and were playing much better on both sides of the ball by the fourth quarter.

Grant Streator started the scoring with a nice offensive rebound. Cam Anderson and Jackson Watson both had nice offensive drives to the basket but had a hard time getting the baskets to fall.  Grant Hartwell and Ryan McGuire both played well rebounding and on defense.

We thank the St. Louis basketball programs for the information.
