Behind 3 hits and several outstanding defensive plays from senior second baseman Holden Acra, the visiting Milan Indians defeated the host South Ripley Raiders 11-3 in an ORVC conference match-up.
Acra’s play in the field took a couple of runs and hits away from the Raiders, and the Milan offense proved too much for the Raiders.
The game was tied at 2 after one inning of play, and Milan added single runs in 2nd and 3rd, then registered another 4 in the 5th to essentially put the game away.
Eli Herd scored 4 times on a 2 for 4 day, Acra finished 3 for 5 with an RBI, and Dylan Thomas also went 2-4 with two runs scored. Johnsons and Thomas combined for the win on the mound for the Indians.
For South Ripley, starter Braxton Wilson suffered the loss in 4 and one-third innings, with Brady Ruble and Trevor Castner providing relief help.
Landon Adams and Trent Smith both went 2 for 4 at the plate.
