(Milan, IN) – Milan VFW Post #6234 recently honored two students and a teacher.
Milan High School students Shelby Williams and Bonnie Hoffrogge were awarded scholarships from the VFW as winners of the veterans organization’s Voice of Democracy Essay Contest (pictured).
The audio essay program provides an opportunity for high school students to express their thoughts on democratic and patriotic themes.
Nearly 40-thousand high school students from across the country enter each year to win a share of $2.1 million in scholarships and educational incentives offered by the program.
Williams is one of the Milan school news reporters for WRBI.
Milan VFW also presented its Teacher of the Year Award to 7th and 8th grade history teacher Richard Healy.
