Milan School Board awards gym lobby renovation contract

Milan Schools Superintendent Jane Rogers

MILAN, IN — The Milan School Board this week awarded the High School gym lobby renovation bid to The Poole Group of Dillsboro for $2.5 million.

“Anyone who’s been in our gym will realize that the entryway is outdated and very small,” said Superintendent Jane Rogers. “We’re excited to be able to provide a larger entry, and it will have updated and larger restrooms and a nice, expanded concession area.”

Rogers said the revamped and expanded gym lobby will also feature a trophy room featuring the legendary 1954 State Basketball Championship team.

“It will also showcase new athletic accomplishments,” she added. “And it certainly fits with our motto of ‘Proud of the Past – Focused on the Future.’”

Work on the lobby and the installation of multi-use turf at the football field will take place this summer as part of the second phase of the corporation’s building renovation project.

Rogers was a guest on Thursday’s edition of The Daily Pod on WRBI.
