Michael Eugene “Mike” Vogel, 53, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, due to a work accident.
He was born September 9, 1970, in Greensburg, IN, the son of Joseph and Mary Anna (Collins) Vogel.
Mike was a lifelong resident of Greensburg. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1989 and spent his working years at many different manufacturing companies. Mike was currently employed at Resonac Powdered Metals America, Inc.
Mike enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Being on his bike was his stress reliever. He enjoyed the freedom of the road and the wind in his hair. Mike always made sure he had a bandana on while riding, which always caused a split in his forehead of tan and white when he did take it off. In his younger years, Mike enjoyed skating. It would not be uncommon to see him with his shoes tied together tossed over his shoulders and heading down the street on his skates. He always got where he wanted to go!
Mike also enjoyed spending time with his daughters and granddaughters. They always brought a smile to his face. He became an even bigger kid than he already was, except when he had to “take care of business.” He worked hard and played even harder. He will be truly missed by many, including family, friends, co-workers, childhood friends, and skating buddies.
Mike is survived by two daughters: Mindy Evans and Maci Vogel of Greensburg; 5 granddaughters: Alison Walls of Batesville, Naomi, Olivia, Makenze, and Emma Evans all of Greensburg; two brothers: Dan (Shirley) Vogel of Greensburg, Phil (Amanda) Vogel of Westport; one sister, Cathy (David Wright) Hastings of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Lawrence Henry Vogel.
Mike was an organ donor. He will live on in many ways. He was not only a hero to his granddaughters, but also to his family, friends, and those who received his generous gifts.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, IN from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation, also at the funeral home. Mike’s wishes were to be cremated after the funeral services. His cremated remains will be placed with his parents in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a private ceremony for the immediate family on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family through the funeral home. To leave online condolences please visit www.popfuneralhome.com.
