MHS Seniors Awarded Prestigious Mortara Family Grant

(Milan, IN) – Four Milan High School seniors are the recipients of the 2025 Mortara Family Grant.

Alexandra Getz, Lucas Drew, Nathan Voss, Anna Herzog were awarded this year’s scholarship.

The Mortara Family Grant is given to four graduating seniors at Milan High School each year.

Recipients of the prestigious scholarship receive up to $10,000 a year for four years towards pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university.

To be eligible for the grant, students must have a 3.9 or higher GPA, have plans to attend a four-year college or university, submit a written essay, and go through an interview process.

The Mortara Family Grant was created by the family of David W. Mortara, PhD, in 2015.

Dr. Mortara is a 1958 graduate of Milan High School, and founder and President of Mortara Instrument, a medical technology company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The company designs, manufactures, and distributes equipment worldwide.

He is a leader in the field of electrocardiography (EKG), and over the course of his career has made significant contributions to cardiology.

Dr. Mortara contributes much of his success to the Milan High School community, who supported and facilitated his educational accomplishments.

The scholarship is intended to extend similar opportunities to exceptional Milan students pursuing a four-year degree.
