Messer recognizes local 8th graders

Batesville, Ind. — Congressman Luke Messer honored 8th grade students in Franklin and Ripley Counties for their outstanding academic achievements recently.

“These students are some of the best and brightest young minds in Indiana, and they should be very proud of their accomplishments,” Messer said. “I hope this recognition encourages them to keep working hard, dream big and strive for excellence.”

The 6th District Scholars Ceremony was held Batesville and the top 8th graders received the 8th Grade Scholar Award.

Ava Ralston and Kavin Saravanan from the Batesville Middle School were recognized. From the Jac-Cen-Del Middle School Dillian Hughes and Brent Ricke received awards.

Milan Middle School students Mia Keller, Evan Miller and Matri Patel received the award.

Kalene Dean and Garrett Darwish received the ward from the Mt. Carmel School.

Faith Martin and Brady Linkel from South Ripley Junior High School were recognized and Kyla Stone from St. Louis was recognized.

The 8th Grade Scholars Dinner was sponsored by Hillenbrand and Ivy Tech Community College and took place at Batesville High School.
