Mental health expert addresses COVID issues at drug-free coalition meeting

BATESVILLE, IN — The Coalition For A Drug-Free Batesville kicked off Mental Health Awareness Month this week with a luncheon meeting hosted by Izzy’s at Hillcrest featuring a nationally-recognized expert in the mental health field.

Kym Laube is the Executive Director of Westhampton Beach, New York-based Human Understanding Growth Services, and Hugs, Inc.

Laube spoke about the fallout from COVID-19 and the effect the pandemic has had on mental health.

She particularly addressed mental health stresses faced by youth and communities in general that stem from pandemic-related issues.

An estimated 50 people representing a variety of local youth organizations attended the meeting.

Mental Health Awareness Month is observed during the month of May.
