Meltzer, Marsh to Distribute Native Trees

(Greensburg, IN) – The City of Greensburg, State Representative Jennifer Meltzer, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, are partnering to distribute native trees to Decatur County residents on Monday, April 14 at City Hall between 8 a.m. and Noon and from 1 to 4 p.m., or until all trees are gone.

These trees are available on a first come, first serve basis and are free of charge with a limit of two per household.

You’re asked to come to the front entrance at City Hall to pick up your trees.

“I’m proud to represent the City of Greensburg and part of Decatur County, and I’m excited to share my love of nature with our community,” said Rep. Meltzer. “Planting native Indiana trees is not only a way to beautify our surroundings, but it also plays a vital role in strengthening our local ecosystem. Native trees support wildlife, improve soil health, conserve water, and help combat climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide. By choosing native species, we’re making an investment in the health and sustainability of our environment for generations to come.”

“As mayor of the Tree City, I’m proud to partner with Rep. Meltzer and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources on this meaningful initiative,” said Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh. “This collaboration is a powerful example of what we can accomplish when state and local leaders work together to invest in our environment. Planting native trees not only strengthens our local ecosystem, but also reinforces Greensburg’s well-earned nickname, ‘the Tree City.’ I’m grateful to Rep. Meltzer and the DNR for their commitment and generous support in helping our community grow—literally and sustainably.”
