A 1989 graduate of Greensburg High School, Minde eventually found her calling at the Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter, where she served as Animal Director beginning in 2020. The shelter was more than a workplace for her—it was a mission, a source of purpose, and a second home. She poured her whole heart into every animal that came through the doors. She was deeply proud of the progress she and her staff and volunteers made together, raising the shelter’s gross save rate from 61.7% in 2023 to 80.8% in 2024. That same year, she received an award for the shelter’s No-Kill efforts, an honor that reflected her passion and tireless dedication.
On May 10, 2006, Minde married the love of her life, Cameron Myers. Together they built a life filled with laughter, stories, and a deep, abiding love that continued to guide her even after his passing.
Anyone who knew Minde can tell you she was a natural storyteller. She could make a room laugh until it hurt, and she had a way of turning everyday moments into memories worth keeping. She was funny and outgoing, strong-willed in the best way, generous to her core, and endlessly thoughtful. She lived with an open heart and gave freely—to people, to animals, to her community.
Minde found joy in so many of the simple, beautiful things in life: cooking and baking for the people she loved, digging her hands into the dirt to plant flowers, getting lost in a good book, or gathering with family and friends just to be together. She made ordinary days feel special.
Her legacy lives in the stories she told, the kindness she shared, and the lives—both human and animal—that are better because she was here.
Minde is survived by her daughters, Rheannan (Chad Ramsey) Wesseler and Adysen Myers; grandchildren, Rhys Ramsey, Raegan Ramsey, and Rowan Ramsey; her parents, Sheryle and Orlando Fontanez; her sister, Melissa Proctor; her brother, Christian Fontanez; nieces and nephews, Brooke Cupp, Kyle Cupp, Kurtis Cupp, Sydney Fontanez, and Lucas Fontanez; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Aubriella Rosfeld, Braxton Cupp, Mackinlee Cupp, and Ellie Cupp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cameron Myers; her son, Garrett Wesseler; and her daughter, Phoebe Myers.
