Medical issue apparent cause of deadly head-on crash

(Lawrenceburg, IN) — One person is dead and another was injured following a head-on crash on Eads Parkway in Lawrenceburg Monday morning.

Police say the driver of one of the vehicles, Robert Melrose of Aurora, appeared to be having a medical issue and was taken to St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital where he later died.

Autopsy results are pending.

The driver of the second car, Sharon Eckstein of Aurora, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Investigators say it appears a medical complication caused Melrose to lose control of his car, which drifted left of center and into the path of Eckstein’s vehicle.
